Welcome to The Weldon Hotel, located at 54 York St. Our building, originally constructed in 1900, has a storied past that reflects the evolution of our community. For much of the early 1900s, this historic site served as a storage facility for McDonald Manufacturing Co. Just outside our doors during that time was a hub of electric and steam railways, connecting our community and facilitating growth. The building was owned by Rufus Deering Lumber for nearly 162 years, further contributing to the area’s industrial heritage.
From 2013 to 2017, the space was transformed into a hub of education as it housed the Baxter Academy of Technology and Science. During this time, the academy flourished, witnessing significant growth in its student body, which expanded from 120 to over 300 students. As a result of this success, the academy relocated to accommodate its increasing enrollment.
In September of 2024, the building opened its doors to our guests and was reborn as the Weldon Hotel, blending its historical charm with contemporary amenities. Our hotel features 13 lovely apartment-style guest rooms, each designed to provide comfort and style for our guests. In addition to our accommodations, we offer a modern co-working space, perfect for business travelers or anyone needing a productive environment. Our beautiful gym space is available for all guests, ensuring that fitness remains a priority during your stay.
We are proud to be neighbors with Studio Eastman, a boutique interior design firm that shares our passion for creativity and aesthetics. Together, we contribute to the vibrant atmosphere of this historic building.
We invite you to explore the Weldon Hotel and experience the perfect blend of history, modernity, and hospitality!
